BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The men's tennis team improved to 2-6 on the season Friday afternoon, as they defeated the Post University Eagles for the second time in their 2010 campaign by a score of 7-3 at Brookdale Park.

The duo of Daniel Petner and Andres DeCastro fell in first doubles action to the team of Caio Rodriguez and Andrew Oliviero by an 8-4 margin, but the Deacons quickly rebounded to take the last two tilts in doubles play.  Jamal Loper and Jolston Wattley topped the team of Markeese McLeod and Mike MacDonald 9-7, and Evan McCall and Terry Gibbs gave the Deacons a 2-1 advantage in the match with an 8-2 victory over the team of Tyrone Harper and Franze Noze.

The Eagles countered with two victories of their own, however, winning the first two matches in singles play to regain control of the match and hold a 3-2 advantage.  Petner fell to Rodriguez by a 6-1, 6-0 margin in first singles, while Loper was topped by McLeod in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 in second singles.  But the Deacons would storm back to take the final four matches from the Eagles for the second time this season, as DeCastro topped Oliviera in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in third singles to begin the run.

McCall bested Harper in fourth singles, needing all three sets to take a 6-6, 10-8, 6-3 slugfest.  Wattley was able to get the best of MacDonald in fifth singles play, taking the matchup in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, and Steven Hobart was able to put an exclamation point on the victory with a three-set victory over Omar Alleyne 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

The Deacons will return to action Sunday, April 11 with a road match against CACC rival Concordia College.
