BLOOMFIELD - After defeating Post University on March 22 for their first victory of the 2011 season, hopes were high for a Bloomfield season sweep. However, the Eagles had other ideas for the rematch.
Post would set the tone, taking two of three doubles matches. In first doubles, the team of Caio Rodriguez and Danny Bonamassa edged the Bloomfield team of
Ceran Messam and
Lordale Benosa, 9-7. Second doubles saw the Deacons
Evan McCall and
Jamal Loper defeat Michael MacDonald and Mark Risbridger for Post, 8-6. Third doubles had Markeese McLeod and Alamin Ripon top
Michael Beeson and
Terry Gibbs 8-4.
In singles action, Messam defeated Rodriguez 6-0, 6-3 in first singles. Post would
follow the opening loss with wins by McLeod over Peter Beckford 6-0, 6-2 and Ripon defeating Loper 6-0, 6-4. Benosa brought Bloomfield back with a solid 6-3, 6-4 win over MacDonald in fourth singles. The Eagles would answer in fifth and sixth singles, with wins by Risbridger over Luis Perez 6-0, 6-2 and Bonamassa taking a tough match against McCall 7-5, 6-4.
This leaves Bloomfield at 4-7 overall and 2-3 in CACC action, with a road match against Chestnut Hill College on Saturday remaining. Start time for the match is set for Noon.
