Deacons fall 3-0 at Bentley

Box Score

WALTHAM, Ma. (September 4, 2011) -
Bloomfield's men's soccer team fell to 0-2 on the season Sunday afternoon, as they dropped a 3-1 road decision to non-conference opponent Bentley University to conclude the 2011 season's opening weekend.

The Bloomfield attack struggled through much of the contest, unable to find the back of the net despite engineering six shots over 90 minutes of play.  Bentley was able to take the lead in the 21st minute on a goal by Louis Bosvert, with Matt Solomon putting the Falcons up a pair with a tally five minutes later.  Brennan DeCosta concluded the match's scoring in the 41st minute, widening the margin to three heading into the half.  The sides would play to a scoreless draw over the final 45 minutes, the Deacons unable to mount a second-half surge to pick up their first victory of the young campaign.  Sophomore Claude Allen (Kingston, Jamaica) concluded his solid opening weekend by registering three shots in the loss, including one of the Deacons' two shots on goal.

"Obviously this game did not go the way we had planned for it to go," Bloomfield head coach Peter-John Falloon said.  "We allowed the game to get away from us in the first half, and we were unable to come back. We learned a lot of lessons this weekend that will prove very beneficial as the season progresses, and I'm excited for us to get back on the field next week."

Bloomfield returns to action Thursday, September 8, opening their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on the road against Goldey-Beacom College.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM.
