NYACK, N.Y. (October 13, 2012) - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team moved to 5-4-2 overall and 3-2-2 in conference play Saturday, as they played Nyack College to a 1-1 draw in an afternoon CACC road match.
The Deacons took hold of the advantage in the 20th minute of the contest, as junior forward
Kemar Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) notched his sixth goal of the season on a feed from
Morgan Lebeurre (Gien, France) to Bloomfield on top 1-0. The visitors would hold the lead until the waning minutes of the contest, as Nyack's Jacob Schwanitz netted the equalizer in the 84th minute of the match to knot the game at one with just six minutes of play. Two fifteen-minute overtime periods followed, but neither team would prove able to tally the golden goal, the clubs closing extra time tied and each picking up a point in the CACC standings with the hard-fought draw.
Bloomfield totaled 10 shots on the afternoon, with senior
Diego Mayanga (Queens, N.Y.) leading the way with three shots and a pair of shots on goal. Sophomore keeper
Kieran Moran (Bronx, N.Y.) totaled six saves over the 120 minutes of action.
"We did a great job today of limiting their offensive chances," Bloomfield head coach
Peter-John Falloon said. "We will continue to grind every time we step on the field, and are content with playing low-scoring games. We came into this game with a game plan, and we executed it effectively. We have another tough test coming up on Tuesday night, so hopefully we can maintain our level of play we move into the end of our schedule."
Bloomfield returns to action Tuesday, October 16, when they welcome CACC rival Concordia College to Foley Field for a midweek conference match. Kickoff for the contest is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
