BOX SCORE
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (November 28, 2012) - Sophomore guard
Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) led a balanced offensive attack with a team-high 14 points Wednesday night, as the Bloomfield College men's basketball team improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in CACC play with a 75-49 home victory over North Division rival Nyack College.
The Deacons moved their winning streak to three-straight games by limiting the visiting Warriors to just 37% shooting from the field on the night, capitalizing on 12 Nyack first-half turnovers to take a double-digit lead midway through the period. The Bloomfield attack proved efficient in the opening frame, with the home team shooting just under 47% from the field to help mount a 35-23 lead into the break.
It would be more of the same in the second half, as the Deacons led wire-to-wire and put the game away with a 40-point second half to cap their third straight win. Every active Bloomfield player registered at least two points in the victory, helping the club move to 1-0 in conference play with a complete team effort against their divisional opponents.
Williams finished the night 5-9 from the field, connecting on two of his three long-range attempts to pace the Deacons' attack. Junior forward
Mike Williams (Trenton, N.J.) totaled 10 points and six rebounds on the night, while rookie point guard
Clarence White (Bronx, N.Y.) came off the bench to notch six points and a game-high five assists in 19 minutes.
Bloomfield returns to action Saturday, December 1, when they travel to take on CACC South Division foe Chestnut Hill College. Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
