Late rally falls short as Deacons stumble at Holy Family

BOX SCORE

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (January 26, 2013) -
The Bloomfield College men's basketball team fell to 10-9 overall and 7-3 in conference play Saturday afternoon, as they dropped a 69-64 road decision to CACC South Division club Holy Family University.

After trailing by just two points at 31-29 heading into the start of the second half, the Deacons were dealt a blow when the Tigers engineered an 11-0 run midway through the second half to mount a 54-42 lead with ten minutes to play.  Bloomfield would rally to cut the lead to just a single bucket on a layup by Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) with just under two minutes remaining, making the score 64-62 with 1:59 left.  But the Tigers would ultimately hold on to the advantage, fending off the late-game rally and handing the Deacons just their third loss in confrence play on the season.

Sophomore guard Matt Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the top scorer for Bloomfield, totaling 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the loss.  Williams and junior point guard Dondre Whitmore (Trenton, N.J.) rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Deacons, totaling 11 points each in the setback.

Bloomfield returns to action Tuesday, January 29, when they travel to take on CACC North Division rival Nyack College in the second leg of the clubs' annual home-and-home series.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 8 p.m.
