Box Score
PHILADELPHIA, P.A. - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team fell to 6-11-0 on the season Tuesday afternoon, as they dropped a 2-1 road decision to top-seeded conference rival Philadelphia University in the Quarterfinals of the 2014 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. The Rams (14-4-1) advance to Thursday's semifinal matches to be held at Lamoy Field on the campus of Post University in Waterbury, when they face the Cougars of Caldwell University and will kick off at 11:00 a.m.
The Bears took hold of the match in 31st minute, when sophomore forward
Rafique Roberts (Portmore, Jamaica) blasted a shot from the right side of the box that deflected into the Philly U goal to put Bloomfield in charge 1-0. The score marked Roberts fourth on the season.
Ishmaiah Calwrie (Baltimore, M.D.) would even the match at 1-1 off a centering pass from
Jordan Lynch (Brampton, Ontario) at the 39:53 mark. The score would last hold up to the end of the period and both teams were eager to break the tie in the second half.
The Bears keeper
Arthur Clapot (Annecy, France) recorded five saves on the day and shutout Philly U in the second period to force overtime. Bloomfield seemed poised for the upset but it was not to be as Calwrie scored the match-winner with 1:34 left in the first overtime to punch the #1 seeded Rams' ticket to Waterbury and end the Bears season.
