Bridgeport, Conn.- The Bloomfield College Bears men's soccer team fell to 0-2 on the season after traveling to Connecticut to face the University of Bridgeport (UB) and dropping a 2-0 non-conference match. The Purple Knights netted one goal in each half to earn,their first win of the 2014 season in match two of day one of the 2014 University of Bridgeport Men's Soccer Classic.
The opening half went scoreless until UB got on the board when Erick Romero found the net on a pass from Jay Abreu with only 31 seconds remaining until the break. Sophomore goalie Arthur Clapot (Annecy, France) saved 2 shots in the half before Romero's shot hit the back of the twine.
The Purple Knights would add a goal in the 69th minute to cement the victory and send the Bears home on day one of the tournament with a loss. UB goalkeeper made,six saves while,Clapot,registered four saves on the night, as Bridgeport outshot Bloomfield, 15-11 for the match.
Next up the Bears will travel back to the home of the Purple Knights to continue the tournament, facing non-conference rival LIU Post on Saturday, September 13th at 4:00pm.
