SHIRLEY, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team saw their two game win streak come to an end as they were edged out 1-0 by Dowling College (5-2-1) in a non-confernce road contest. The Bears drop to 2-4 on the season and 0-4 to non-conference opponents.
Bloomfield fended off 10 Dowling shots in the opening stanza to keep the match scoreless heading into the half at Golden Lions Field. The Bears offense only managed 3 shots in the first half and looked to regroup at the break.
In the second half,
Shaunavon deSouza (Montego Bay, Jamaica) had an opportunity to take the lead with an open net, but a Golden Lion defender came in to knock the ball away for the team save. The Bears offense increased the pressure in the last period taking 10 shots but were unable to breakthrough and Dowling took advantage scoring the decisive goal in the 78th minute of play off of a corner.
Goalkeeper
Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded six saves in the loss with Dowling outshooting the Bears 19-13 for the match and holding a 6-2 advantage in corners.
