CALDWELL, N.J. - A pair of goals from Caldwell University in the second half proved to be too much for the Bloomfield College men's soccer team as they fell to the Cougars, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon on the road at Caldwell Field. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) upset loss dropped the Bears to 7-4-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the conference, while Caldwell picked up their first league victory (1-5-1) and second win overall (2-9-1) of the season.
Â
The Cougars broke the scoreless draw in the 55
th minute as Tom Yorston beat Bloomfield's goalkeeper
Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) for his 5
th goal of the year and the 1-0 lead for the home team.
Â
Caldwell doubled up their lead in the 70:03 minute mark when Joaquin Escudero delivered a ball into the back of the net after he picked up corner pass from Sam Odell.
Â
The Cougars owned a slim 5-3 shot advantage in the first half but Bloomfield picked up the pace down two goals in the second to end the game with an 11-7 shot edge. Cisneros recorded four saves on the afternoon but the Bears offense only managed one shot on goal for the game.
Â
