BEARS COME AWAY WITH ROAD SHUTOUT OF CLIPPERS, 2-0 IN CACC BATTLE

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team took the ride over the bridge to face Concordia College Tuesday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at Holtdorf Soccer Field. The Bears came away with a 2-0 shutout behind six saves from junior goalkeeper, Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) and captured their fourth (4-2-1) victory in conference play while moving their overall record to 6-3-2.

Bloomfield scored the first goal early in the match when Kareem Kennedy (Colon, Panama) handled a pass from Hugues Douyon (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) in the 13th minute for a one-timer. The Bears enjoyed the 1-0 lead for the remainder of the first period.

In the second half, the home team stepped up the attack with 11 shots but to no avail as Bloomfield added a second goal in the 81st minute with Douyon as the recipient this time of a long pass from Rafique Roberts (Portmore, Jamaica). The Bears midfielder turned striker, handled the pass and chipped the ball into the upper right-hand corner of the net above the out-stretched arms of the Clippers keeper, Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica).

Concordia (5-3-1, 3-3-1 CACC) held a slight edge, 14-12 in shots for the match and 5-4 in corner kicks on the day.

The Bears will hibernate for a few days before they host the Griffins of Chestnut Hill on Saturday, October 10th. The CACC matchup is scheduled to start at 1:30pm from Foley Field in Bloomfield.
