BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Bloomfield College men's soccer team picked up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over the Tigers of Holy Family University Saturday afternoon at Foley Field. The 2-0 win improved Bloomfield to 4-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play while the Tigers fell to 0-7-0 overall with a 0-4-0 CACC record.
The Bears struck first in the 16
th minute when reigning CACC Player of the Week,
Paulo Claudio (San Paulo, Brazil) scored his conference-leading ninth goal of the season.
Jerome Bland (London, England) dished a beautiful ball that the Bears striker finished from inside six yards to put the home team up 1-0.
Bloomfield outshot Holy Family, 13-2, in the first half and doubled their lead in the 44
th minute when defender,
Shacquille Brown (Springfield, St. Thomas) found his way up front for a ball from Marcelo Torrealba (San Paulo, Brazil). Brown finished from inside the six yard box and the Bears had all the offense they needed for the day heading into halftime.
Bloomfield finished the game with 24 total shots, 12 of them on goal while junior keeper,
Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) only faced 7 Tiger shots and saved the four of them that were on target. The Bears controlled the game and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
