ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College women's soccer team dropped a hard fought battle in the last few minutes against Dominican College Tuesday evening on the road. The 1-0 heartbreaker left the Bears at 0-9-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games and 0-13-1 overall while the Chargers galloped to 5-10 on the season with a 5-6 record in league play keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Â
The Bloomfield offense had great opportunities to seize the game as they put seven of their thirteen shots directly on goal but it was with less than three minutes to play that the scoreless tie was broken by the home team. Freshman goalkeeper, Adeline Argabright (Bloomfield, N.J.) got her ninth start of the season and made eight saves on the day. In the 88
th minute of play, Argabright came out of the net to make a play on the ball but the Chargers forward got by and pushed a slow roller into the empty goal for the decisive score.
Â
The teams were evenly matched as both squads took four corner kicks each. Dominican had a slight advantage in shots (18-13) and shots on goal (9-7).
Â
The Bears will regroup this week as they welcome Philadelphia University Saturday for another CACC showdown. The battle on the pitch is set for a 1:00 pm start.
