Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

BEARS CELEBRATE SENIOR NIGHT AGAINST NATIONALLY RANKED ESU

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College women's soccer team scored two goals on the nationally ranked Warriors from East Stroudsburg University (esu) but it was far from enough as the Bears suffered an 8-2 defeat on Monday night at Foley Field. The non-conference regional showdown with 13th ranked ESU also commemorated 'Senior Night' for Bloomfield who honored their four program seniors before the night's contest. The Bears also took a moment to recognize the eight seniors from the visitor's squad before falling to 0-15-1 overall with the setback while the Warriors improved to 12-4-1 in 2016.

Sammy Fonseca (Trenton, N.J.), Raquel Rodriquez (Red Bank, N.J.), Chelsea Johnson (Hamilton, N.J.) and Karla Calderon (West New York, N.J.) were all honored at the start on the game for their accomplishments and dedication to the program. Head coach Phil Fluhr also started all four of his seniors as the Bears fell behind 3-0 in the first half. Sophomore Emira Sela (Staten Island, N.Y.) started in goal for the home team and face 16 shots in the opening period.

In the second half, the Bears gave way to their freshman goalkeeper, Adeline Argabright (Bloomfield, N.J.) who faced 19 shots from the Warriors in the final frame of play at Foley Field for the women's team. Stephanie Rivera (Brooklyn, N.Y.) provided the fans with some excitement as she scored her second goal of the season off a beautiful feed from sophomore Carla Briscoe (Caledon East, Ontario, Canada) to get Bloomfield on the scoreboard. The Bears forced another point on the ranked Warriors after sophomore Janay Plaza (Newark, N.J.) drew a foul in the box that allowed Simone McEnough (Neptune, N.J.) to score her fourth goal of the year on the ensuing penalty kick.

The Bears will closeout their 2016 season on the road with a match against Concordia College on Wednesday afternoon. Coming off the two-goal performance against a nationally ranked team, Bloomfield will look to closeout the year with a victory against the Clippers as the match is set for a 3:00 pm start.
