Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

BEARS ON THE ROAD SETTLE FOR, 2-2 TIE AGAINST THE TIGERS

DOYLESTOWN, P.A. – The Bloomfield College men's soccer team played to their second tie of 2016 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against Holy Family University Saturday afternoon. The 2-2 draw went into double overtime and despite a huge, 28-9 shot advantage for the Bears (3-4-2, 2-2-2 CACC) the Tigers (1-6-3, 0-3-3 CACC) pulled out their third tie of the season.

Matthew Weigner (Warrington, P.A.) made his return to the starting line-line and turned away three shots on the afternoon for Bloomfield. Holly Family struck first on a shot that got past the Bears' keeper in the 11th minute of play for a 1-0 advantage. Freshman, Nathaniel Valencia (North Plainfield, N.J.) drew the visiting team even with his second goal of the year on a pass from senior, Hugues Douyon (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) at the 18:58 mark. The Tigers struck again before the break on a rebounded ball and took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Bloomfield picked up the offensive intensity in the second half and found the ball bounced their way in the 86th minute when an own goal brought the match to a tie once again. The Bears held a 12-0 advantage in shots for the period but couldn't find the game-winner in regulation. Double overtime wasn't even enough as the Bloomfield offense continued it's pressure with a 7-1 shot lead but with no payoffs in the back of the net, the defending CACC Champions were forced to head home with a tie score.

Bloomfield will line up on the pitch again on Wednesday evening as the Eagles of Post University swoop into town for another CACC thriller. The showdown under the lights at Foley Field is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start on October 5th.
