BOCA RATON, FLA – The Bloomfield College men's baseball team dropped a fourth straight game on their Florida Spring Break trip Friday afternoon in a 9-1 loss to Molloy College.
The Bears slipped to 1-5 on the season while the Lions improved to 8-3 overall. On the campus of Lynn University
Bloomfield got the scoring underway in the first inning when a sacrifice fly to right by
Harry Montero (Millville) scored
Brandon Morales (Hialeah, Fla.) who singled to lead off the inning. The Bears failed to send another run across home plate as Molloy answered back with six runs in the bottom of the second off freshman right-hander,
Anthony Maldonado (Newark, N.J.). In his first action on the mound as a Bear, Maldonado surrendered seven runs on ten hits in six innings of work where he struck out three and walked three while hitting one batter.
The Lions tacked on another run in the seventh inning off of reliever,
Patrick Haas (Haddonfield, N.J.) who pitched two innings out of the bullpen and surrendered a homerun to Ryan Dillon in the 8th as the catcher came in to pinch hit for the 9-1 final.
Bloomfield recorded just the one hit in the first inning by Morales but
Ben Thomas (Burlington, N.J.) recorded two stolen bases after reaching on a walk and an error.
The Bears look to rebound in the nightcap against Caldwell University at the Santaluces Complex in Lantana, Fla with a 7:30 pm start time under the lights.
