BEARS CEMENT POST-SEASON HOME GAME AFTER 2-0 WIN AT POST U

WATERBURY, CONN. — Men's soccer traveled up to Post University to square off in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle with heavy post-season implications on Wednesday afternoon and delivered a 2-0 victory at LaMoy Field.
Jovan Stanojkovic (Pancevo, Serbia) returned in goal and picked up his 4th shutout of the year as the visitors improved to 8-2-1 in CACC play and 11-3-1 overall. The Eagles fell to 6-6 in league action and 7-8 overall with the setback.
 
The CACC Rookie of the Week, Regsan Watkins (Cape Town, South Africa) powered the Bears offense, delivering a shot from twenty-five yards out off a pass from Nicolas Calabia (Palisade Park, NJ) in the 6th minute of the game. Post scrambled to find an equalizer the rest of the half but the visitor's defense was up to the task and kept the 1-0 advantage as the teams headed into the halftime break.
 
In the second period, Bloomfield's leading scorer put the game out of reach at the 74:23 minute mark with a penalty kick past the Eagles' keeper. Post outshot the Bears, 10-8 for the match but the home team suffered a 5-4 deficit in shots-on-goal.
 
Next up, Bloomfield heads to Caldwell University for a Friday showdown with the Cougars with a 3:00 pm scheduled start. The win for the Bears cemented the first home playoff game for Bloomfield since 2012. A victory in Friday's regular-season finale will setup a rematch of Wednesday's battle with the Eagles but on the Bears home turf of Foley Field in the CACC Championships Quarterfinal Round.
