BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College women's basketball set their longest losing streak to start a season since joining the NCAA Division II with a, 74-62 setback Wednesday evening at 'The Den'. The non-conference match up with LIU Post (3-4) left the Bears at 0-6 on the year as they head into conference play on Saturday.
Bloomfield saw three players in double-figures led by junior
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) who netted 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field. Senior transfer,
Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) recorded her best day in a Bloomfield uniform and dropped 13 points, going 5-of-11 from the floor while
Ilysia Lewis (Baltimore, MD) chimed in with 10 points.
The Bears began the evening with a 16-7 lead but watched the visitors battle their way back into the contest and by the second quarter capture the lead at the 7:21 mark. The Pioneers went into the locker room up, 40-35 and never trailed again for the game.
The Bears will have a chance for rebirth with the start of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule beginning against Dominican College this weekend. The Chargers come to town for a 1:00 pm showdown Saturday with both teams searching for their first victory of 2017.
