BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team got back to their winning ways with an 86-81 win over visiting Dominican College Saturday afternoon. The Bears improved to 5-2 overall after a two-game slide and also moved to 1-0 in the First Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle of the year. The Chargers suffered their first loss of the year as Bloomfield dropped them to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference match ups.
 
Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) had his best game in 'The Den' as he poured in a team-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, which included 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Senior tri-captain, Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) notched his first double-double of the year as he accumulated 18 points and 15 rebounds on the afternoon. Rakwan Kelly (Newark, NJ) narrowly missed his third double-double of the 2017-18 campaign with the senior recording 10 points and 9 rebounds.
 
Bloomfield charged out of the gate and led by as many as 16 in the opening half but Dominican chiseled their way back in and went into the halftime break down by just five (47-41). The visitors quickly evaporated the Bears lead in the second period after an 11-5 run gave the Chargers a 53-52 advantage. The capacity crowd at the 'The Den' enjoyed a see-saw battle down the stretch that ended with the defending CACC Champions prevailing as Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, NJ) came off the bench for 10 2^nd half points and finished the game with 15 total points.
 
Bloomfield continues their CACC schedule with a visit to Post University on Tuesday. The Bears look to soar into Waterbury to face the Eagles for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
