BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- Bloomfield College received the No. 6 seed in the upcoming NCAA Division II Men's Basketball East Region Tournament, as announced on Sunday night by NCAA.com on its official selection show. The Bears, who earned an automatic bid to the Big Dance by winning the 2016-17 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship -- will face third-seeded College of Saint Rose in the first round of the regional on Saturday at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. The time for tip-off of the opening round will be 12:00 pm.
 
Bloomfield downed Dominican College, 69-56, on Sunday in the CACC Championship Final to claim the program's seventh conference championship under head coach Gerald Holmes. The Bears will also be making the program's seventh appearance in the NCAA Regional under Holmes and their first since 2014. Bloomfield is 22-9 overall on the season.
 
"Our first goal every year is to win the North Division, and we accomplished that this season," Holmes said.  "We got every team's best shot throughout the course of the regular season, so I am very proud of this team and how they were able to endure and win the CACC Championship.  We have a lot more work to do, and Saturday is the next step."
 
"I am so proud of the way our team played this season, and how they have conducted themselves on and off the court," athletic director Sheila Wooten said of the men's basketball program.  "We encourage everyone to come out on Saturday afternoon and see a great game or watch it online if you can not make the trip to Syracuse.  There is nothing like NCAA Tournament basketball, and we hope the community can come out and see what it's all about."
 
Saint Rose earned the No. 3 seed in the region after reaching the semifinals of the NE-10 Championship and going 24-7 overall. The Golden Knights will be making their 13th all-time appearance in the NCAA Regionals and their first since 2011, as the regional that year was won by Bloomfield at the Dana Center on the Bentley University campus in Waltham, Mass.
