NEWARK, N.J. – The Bloomfield College baseball team picked up a sweep Sunday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action over Philadelphia University (PhilaU) at West Side Park. The Bears evened up their overall record with the pair of league victories.

How It Happened – Game 1
- 1st inning – The Rams got on the board with a run to start off the day but Bloomfield quickly responded with 2 in the bottom half of the first as Isaac Pichardo (Passaic, N.J.) belted his third homerun of the year. Harry Montero (Millville, N.J.) later doubled and drove in Juan Reina (Paterson, N.J.)
- 3rd inning – PhilaU pushed across two more runs in the top of the third but the Bears answered yet again as Pichardo and Montero continued to shine and plated 3 RBI between the pair
- 4th inning – Bloomfield tagged on another run after a Cristopher Cabral (Lodi, N.J.) single scored Billy Sabo (Stanhope, N.J.) and the home team moved to a 6-3 advantage
- 7th inning – The Rams came back to tie the game with two runs in the top of the seventh however the Bears would not be denied on this day and freshman, Kendon Strachan (West Hempstead, N.Y.) belted his first collegiate homerun to put his team up for good.
- Bloomfield scored 5 unanswered runs across the final two innings and claimed the Game 1 win. Carlos Tejeda (New York, N.Y.) picked up his team leading third win, allowing six earned runs in seven innings of work and struck out four. Patrick Haas (Haddonfield, N.J.) came on to and picked up his second save of the season, fanning two across the final two innings.
How It Happened – Game 2
- 1st inning – Anthony Maldonado (Newark, N.J.) took to the mound in Game 2 trying to keep the Bloomfield momentum going as he went six and two-thirds innings shutting the Rams out.
- 2nd inning – Bloomfield scored on a double steal in the bottom of the second as Strachan broke for second base and Ben Thomas (Burlington, N.J.) stole home to put the Bears up 1-0. Freshman, Jason Holguin (Lakewood, N.J.) later drove in his classmate, Strachan and the home team had all the run-support they would need and cruised to the sweep of the Rams
Up Next: Bloomfield continues their four-game home stand as they welcome the Clippers of Concordia College to West Side Park for a Wednesday double dip. First pitch for Game 1 is slated for 10:00 am.
