WILMINGTON, DEL – The Bloomfield College women's soccer team put up a valiant fight in their season opener on the road but came on the wrong side of a 1-0 decision against the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College Friday evening. The early-season Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tilt featured seven stops from the Bears (0-1, 0-1 CACC) keeper,
Jessica Larson (Delran, NJ).
Bloomfield fell into a 1-0 hole in the 27th minute when Sophie Woods corralled a cross from Cliona Crammond and put a ball past Larson on the right for the Lightning's (1-0, 1-0 CACC) advantage. The Bloomfield junior transfer was flawless the rest of the afternoon facing 8 shots on goal for the day.
The Bears managed 11 shots at NCS Field led by freshman,
Patricia Persichetty (Staten Island) with 3 followed by classmate
Brigid Dwyer (Brick, NJ) and senior
Simone McEnough (Neptune, NJ) with two shots apiece.
Bloomfield will look for their first win under first-year head coach Mike Minielli when they play their home opener on Tuesday against Lincoln University. The non-conference battle is set to start at 7:00 pm at Foley Field.
