BRIDGEPORT, CONN– The Bloomfield College men's basketball team fell to, 2-4 after a loss on the road to the University of Bridgeport, 108-100. The Purple Knights improved to, 4-2 after Saturday afternoon's regional win at Hubbell Gym.
The Bears were flying high in the first period with a 58-45 point lead.
Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) soared with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field in the opening frame, including 4-of-4 from the freethrow line. The Purple Knights took control in the second stanza at about the 12-minute mark when they mounted a 10-0 spurt. The game saw its last tie with 5:10 remaining on the clock as the home team surged ahead and never looked back.
Washington finished the day with a strong 25 points while senior
Kavione Green (Amityville, NY) ended with 22. Junior forward
Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) and freshman forward
Jahaud Lowber (Deptford, NJ) shared 13 points, with Lajeunesse posting a double-double grabbing down 13 rebounds.
Next, the Bears will head to Caldwell, NJ to take on the Cougars, Saturday December 8
th. The showdown between the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division rivals will be broadcast live through a variety of social media and online outlets as part of the Division II Showcase package. The men's game will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m
