CALDWELL, NJ – Bloomfield College men's basketball team suffered a 77-75 setback to the Cougars of Caldwell University on Saturday afternoon. The Bears regular season finale came up just short of a comeback win when a last-second three-pointer bounced harmlessly off the front of the rim. Despite falling to 22-6 on the season and 17-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, Bloomfield earned their 10th regular season championship under Coach Gerald Holmes and the overall top seed in the upcoming league tournament.
 
Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) led all scorers with 22 points on 50.0 percent (8-of-16) shooting from the field while reigning CACC Player of the Week, Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) chipped in 19 including 9-of-10 from the free throw line. The Bears saw Ignacio Diez (Madrid, Spain) come off the bench to record 14 points and senior co-captain, Rakwan Kelly (Newark, NJ) added 13 points to round out the visitors top-scorers against Caldwell (16-12, 13-6 CACC).
 
The setback did not affect Bloomfield's standing in the league as they still finish with the top seed in the North Division and will host the quarterfinal round on Tuesday evening. The Bears will welcome USciences to 'The Den' for a 7:30 pm matchup on their quest for a second consecutive CACC Tournament Championship.
