GREAT OPENING QUARTER HELPS DISTANCE BEARS IN, 75-50 CACC BATTLE WITH THE WARRIORS

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears built an 18-point lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back in their, 75-50 victory over visiting Nyack College Thursday evening. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division make-up game was postponed from a day earlier due to inclement weather and featured Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) posting 27 points to go along with 8 rebounds.

The league win set Bloomfield back atop the North Division's leaderboard with a 13-2 mark and a 13-9 overall record. The Warriors fell to 2-22 on the year with a 2-13 conference record.

Junior forward, Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) ripped off 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and added 8 rebounds while the CACC Player and Defensive Player of the Week, Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) recorded her 3rd straight double-double with 12 points and 12 boards which included 7 on the defensive glass, accented by 2 blocks and 2 steals.

The home team registered their largest scoring output in an opening quarter for the season that put Nyack on their heels, 28-10. The crowd at 'The Den' saw Robinson fire up 13 points across the first two quarters and Bloomfield took their eighteen-point advantage into the locker room for the half. Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) chipped in a perfect 1st half, going 3-of-3 from the field including 2-of-2 from downtown for 8 points.

In the second half, the Bears kept Nyack at a distance as the visitor's offense failed to get on track. The North Division leaders held the Warriors to 25.0 percent shooting for the game and cruised to their 8th consecutive win.

Bloomfield now sets their sights on the regionally ranked Rams of Jefferson University as they travel to the 'City of Brotherly Love' for a Saturday afternoon showdown. The 2:00 pm battle features two playoff bound teams with the Bears already securing a first-round home game at The Den in the upcoming CACC Tournament.
