HOME RUN DERBY ENDS IN SPLIT FOR BEARS AND EAGLES AT CLARKS POND SOUTH

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – In consecutive at-bats, freshman catcher, Brianna Johnson (Sun Valley, Calif.) belted her first collegiate homers and set the tone for a slew of runs during the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball double header split with Post University at Clarks Pond South on Wednesday.

When all was said and done, the teams combined for 9 homers and 35 runs in 11 innings which left the Bears at 7-15 overall and 7-9 in league play. The Eagles moved to 9-5 in conference match ups and 11-15 overall on the season.

Johnson got the scoring underway with a two-out, two-run blast over the right field fence in the bottom of the first inning. The bases were loaded when she stepped to the plate for her second at-bat and produced a grand slam to center field that broke open the game in the 2nd inning as Bloomfield went up 9-0 and didn't look back.

Freshman, Maddie Feddersen (Islip, NJ) got the start in the circle and went three solid innings, striking out four Eagles, walking two and allowed only two hits en-route to her 4thwin of the season. Classmate Sarisha Daugherty (Chula Vista, Calif) went 3-for-4 with 2 runs and an RBI to compliment Johnson's 6 RBI performance in Game 1's, 13-2 five-inning final.

Game 2 was a tale from a different story as Post saw their bats come alive, belting 5 home runs in a 15-5 six-inning decision. Back-to-back shots over the center and then left field fences gave the visitors a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1stthat they never relinquished.

Mariah Wysocki (Voorhees, NJ) accounted for all of the Bears points in the second game by way of a 3-run homer in the 2ndand then a 2-run blast in the 4th. Lauren Booth (Maple Shade, NJ) suffered the loss in Game 2, moving her record to 1-3 on the year.

Next up Bloomfield will hit the road for another CACC showdown, this time with Chestnut Hill University. The conference doubleheader is set for a 1:00 pm first pitch and will feature Live Stats and Video with links available on the website.
