CRUZ POWERS BEARS TO SPLIT ON THE ROAD WITH CACC FOE, FELICIAN UNIVERSITY

LYNDHURST, NJ – Sophomore infielder, Delanie Cruz (Chicago, IL) belted her first homerun of 2018 in Game 2 of the Bears Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) softball doubleheader with Felician University Thursday and helped Bloomfield to a split with the Golden Falcons. The Bears moved to 6-10 overall and 6-4 in league play after an, 8-2 loss in Game 1 and a, 12-7 win in the second game of the day.

Felician struck first in the top of the 1stinning off of senior Kiersten Coho (East Freedom, PA), who gave up 3 runs in the opening frame. Bloomfield responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning but that was all the points the offense mustered as Raylene Uribe (Riverside, Calif) and Cruz came across the plate to score. The Golden Falcons tacked on 5 more runs in Game 1, three of them on Coho (2-7) who gave way to reliever, Lauren Booth (Maple Shade, NJ) mid-way in the 4thinning.

In Game 2, Maddie Feddersen (Islip, NJ) got the start in the circle and powered by 5 RBI from Cruz, received more run support to carry her to her third victory of the season. Once again Felician put pressure on the visitors at Lyndhurst Recreation by scoring first with a run in the 2ndinning and 2 in the third but Feddersen (3-2) settled in and was rewarded as Bloomfield erupted for 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th

Cruz doubled to left field, driving in Sarisha Daugherty (Chula Vista, Calif) and Mya Lopez (Vineland, NJ). Cruz would later cross the plate herself as she and Uribe scored on consecutive wild pitches. The Bloomfield bats were alive and well in Game 2, Jerae Keli'ikoa (Wahiawa, HI) belted a triple to right field that drove in two runs. Cruz's long-ball came in the 5thinning when she drove a 3-run shot over the centerfield wall and then Daugherty, who went 4-for-5 in the game, capped the Bears scoring with an RBI double down the left field line in the 6th

Bloomfield will look to capitalize on the momentum from handing the Golden Falcons their first conference loss when they travel to Jefferson on Friday for a CACC doubleheader. The first pitch against the Rams is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Philadelphia.
