BLOOMFIELD, NJ– The Bloomfield College women's soccer team squared off with NYIT in the 'Battle of the Bears' at Foley Field Wednesday evening and fell 1-0 in a non-conference thriller. The home team dropped to 1-4 on the season while the visitors improved to 3-2 after the decision.
Senior goalkeeper,
Jessica Larson (Delran, NJ) got the start and faced 14 shots on target from NYIT. Larson registered a season-high, 13 saves as the visiting Bears stayed on the offensive attack.
The teams played a scoreless first half and it wasn't until the 53
rdminute of the play that NYIT took the advantage in the game. Hannah Franco dribbled into the box and pushed a ball past Larson for the game-deciding shot.
Bloomfield will return to action on Saturday when Georgian Court University come into town for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle. The afternoon league showdown is set for a 1:00 pm start at Foley Field.
