SMART GOAL PROPELS MEN'S SOCCER TO FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College men's soccer team captured their first win of the 2018 season on Saturday when the Rams visited Foley Field. Jefferson fell to 4-4-1 overall with a 3-2-1 mark in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games.

The Bears (1-7, 1-5 CACC) played the Rams to a scoreless tie when the intermission horn sounded. Alex Idrovo (North Bergen, NJ) got his second start in goal for the home team and picked up the shutout win with 2 saves for the day. Idrovo's lack of action on his side of the pitch was due, in-part-by Bloomfield's relentless offensive attack that resulted in an 18-5 edge in shots in the game.

Only one shot decided the game however and it was fitting a Bears defender would score the winning goal. In the 76thminute, senior co-captain Adrian Smart (Mandeville, Jamaica) put a ball in the net off a rebound. The goal was the defender's first of the year and sealed the home team's first win on Foley Field.

Next up, Bloomfield will host the Yellow Jackets of AIC for a non-conference thriller on Tuesday, October 2, at 7:00 pm.
