ALBANY, N.Y.– Bloomfield senior forward,
Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) recorded his second double-double on Day 2 of the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament to help lift Bloomfield over the Golden Knights, 75-63. The regional battle inside the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium improved the visitors record to a perfect, 2-0 while The College of Saint Rose fell to 1-1.
The Bears shot 47.1 percent (8-for-17) from beyond the three-point line and saw five players reach double-figures on the day. Newcomer, Sol Lesham (Hod Hosharon, Isreal) led the scoring effort with a game-high 16 points.
Bloomfield rattled off 12 unanswered points within a two-minute span of the second half to seize control of the contest, 66-55 with just 8:19 left to play. The Golden Knights failed to break the double-digit barrier down the stretch and the Bears walked away with the non-conference victory.
Freshman guard
Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) went 5-of-11 from the field for 12 points and senior guard,
Dontay Julius (Linden, NJ) came off the bench to go a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc and finished the day with 10 points..
The Bears next contest will be Saturday, November 16 when they travel to the nation's capitol to take on the University of the District of Columbia. Bloomfield is set for a 3:00 pm tip-off with the Firebirds.
