WEST PALM, FL – The final challenge for the Bears baseball team in sunny Florida was the Merrimack College Warriors on Sunday. The two schools battled for 9 innings but at the end, it was the Warriors who came away with a 13-3 win. Bloomfield concluded their Spring Break trip, 0-7 and pushed their overall record to 0-10 in 2019.
On the hill, pitcher
Carlos Rodriguez (Paterson, N.J.) got the start and suffered the loss after 5 innings of work. The junior allowed 9 runs, 6 of them earned on 5 hits and struck out 5. The Bears offense produced just 4 hits with
Saul Rufino (Wayne, N.J.) going 1-for-3 at the plate while
Justin McKeown (Piscataway, N.J.) went 1-for-2 in the game.
The Bears will leave the Sunshine State and head home to get ready for their next match up which will take place in the Empire State. Waiting for them will be the Pace University Setters. The two teams will duke it out twice next week, once on March 13th and then on14th, both games starting at 3:00pm.
