RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Bears softball team dropped two in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match up against Felician University Tuesday afternoon. Bloomfield fell in Game 1, 8-4 and 11-7 in Game 2. The setbacks moved the Bears overall record to 4-9 and their conference record to 2-2 while the Falcons improved to 7-12 overall and 3-1 in CACC play.
GAME 1
In the circle, sophomore pitcher
Maddie Feddersen (Islip, NY) picked up her first conference loss of the year. After one-and-a-third innings, Feddersen had given up 5 earned runs on 5 hits. Freshman hurler
Taylor Galyean (Cottonwood, CA) came on in releif and pitched four-and-two-third innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 3.
Sophomore
Jerae Keli'ikoa (Wahiawa, HI) went 2 for 3 with one run scored and one RBI. Junior,
Alexis Freudenberg (Islip, NY) went 1 for 3 with a three RBI double in the top of the 3
rdinning. Senior
Lauren Booth (Maple Shade, NJ) went 2 for 4 and freshman,
Arlene Flores (Hemet, CA) went 2 for 3.
GAME 2
Freshman
Taylor Galyean (Cottonwood, CA) got the start in the second game of the day and recorded her first loss of the season (3-1) for the Bears. The Bloomfield pitching staff only gave up 5 earned runs in the 11-7 loss. Infielder
Mariah Wysocki (Voorhees, NJ) had a big game as she went 3 for 4 with 6 RBI's, hitting a grand slam in the 5th and a two-run homer in the 7
th. The sophomore was responsible for 6 of the 7 runs the Bears scored Game 2. Sophomore Sari Daugherty (Chula Vista, CA) went 3-for-4 recording an RBI and a run scored.
Bloomfield will continue conference play when they take the field for their home opener on Saturday against Goldey-Beacom at Clarks Pond in Bloomfield. Game 1 is set for a 12pm start.
