Kavione Green, who earlier in the day was named the 2018-19 CACC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, poured in a team-high 31 points to lead the Bears to the opening-round win over the Wildcats. Keith Washington also got into the double-double act for Bloomfield with 11 points and 16 assists. The Bears shot 52 percent from the field. Bloomfield, Jefferson, Dominican and G-B all advance to Saturday's CACC Men's Basketball Championship semifinals, which will be held at Caldwell University in Caldwell, N.J. Bloomfield will face Goldey-Beacom in the afternoon's first game at 12 p.m., while Jefferson and Dominican will square off afterwards at approximately 2 p.m.
The Jefferson-Dominican affair marks the third-consecutive year the two will square off in the postseason with each side earning a win the previous two meetings. The Chargers knocked off the Rams in the CACC semis back in 2017 at Caldwell, while Jefferson returned the favor with a win in the CACC Championship Final last year.
Bloomfield will be seeking its second CACC crown in the last three seasons, as the Bears last won the conference back in 2017, which was also held at Caldwell. Goldey-Beacom is making its second-consecutive appearance in the CACC semis.
