BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Women's Basketball Head Coach at Bloomfield College,
Vanessa Watson has been named one of the top 99 coaches of all-time in the state of New Jersey. The listing of distinguished coaches in the history of New Jersey high school sports was compiled in a story written by Matthew Stanmyre of NJ.com and Watson landed 10th on the list.
Watson retired from high school coaching in 2014 with 720 career victories, 10 state championships and six Tournament of Champions titles over 31 years. Even more, she built a national juggernaut at an inner-city school in Newark's South Ward and fielded a team that many years was better than every elite private school in the state.
Coach Watson landed her first collegiate head coaching position in 2017-18 at Bloomfield College and promptly led the Bears to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season championship. Her team won 15 of thier last 18 contests to earn a spot in the CACC Tournament during Watson's innagural season. Bloomfield, under the direction of their legenday coach will open their 2019-20 season on the road against the University of Bridgeport on November 9th at 2:30 pm.
