BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Four Bears scored in double-figures on Sunday as they took an 89-47 victory over the visiting Lions from Georgian Court Sunday afternoon. Bloomfield shot 50.7 percent from the field (36-of-71) to capture their fourth-straight win and improve to 6-3 overall and tops in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference(CACC).
Senior,
Tariq McKenith (Newark, NJ) led the way with a modest 13 points on a red-hot 6-of-7 shooting from the field. The starting guard set the tone and dished out four assists to go along with five rebounds for the Bears while fellow starter,
Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Senior forward
Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) came off the bench to net 11 points and 8 boards.
Tony Godwin (North Plainfield, NJ) also came of the bench and made the most of his 14 minutes of play, as he registered 10 points on 4-of-8 shots from the field. The Bloomfield bench outscored the Lions (2-4, 2-4 CACC) 41-21 and held a 20-2 edge in fast break points.
The Bears now sit atop the CACC standings with just one game remaining on their schedule, a Thursday evening battle with Concordia College. With the other teams in the league still looking to play two or more games, the playoff picture is cloudy going into the 5:30 pm road-match against the Clippers.
