NYACK BLOCKS BEARS BID TO ADVANCE IN CACC TOURNEY WITH, 64-46 SETBACK IN THE DEN

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield College women's basketball team won three straight games last week to secure the #3 seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) postseason tournament but suffered a, 64-46 upset at home to Nyack College. The Tuesday evening setback ended the Bears season with a 6-5 recorded while the 6th seeded Warriors improved to 4-7 and advanced to the semifinal round of the tournament to face Dominican College.

Nyack held the home team to just two points in the second quarter and built an insurmountable, 28-8 advantage at halftime. The Bloomfield offense found some life in the third and fourth quarters but it was too little, too late as the Warriors kept pace to end the Bears postseason run. Jaylah Bennett (Newark,  NJ) scored a team-high 14 points while Myasia Jackson (Trenton, NJ) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore guard, Alaisha Mumford (Jersey City, NJ) registered a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with 9 points. Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) who was named to the All-CACC Team and who led Bloomfield in scoring during the regular season, was held scoreless by the Warriors and attempted only one shot for the entire game.
