NEWARK, NJ - The Bloomfield College baseball team earned a split Saturday afternoon against the visiting Jefferson University Rams at Westside Park. The Bears dropped Game 1, 9-1 but came roaring back in Game 2 off the bat of third baseman,
Tyree Bradley (West Orange, NJ) to win, 4-3. The Split moved the home team's record to 7-4 on the season and 7-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play while the visiting Rams went to 11-7 on the year with an 8-4 league mark.
Bradley hit three homeruns on the day, his first breaking up a no-hitter in the bottom of the last inning of Game 1. In Game 2, Bradley hit a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning and then the eventually game-winner even further over the left field fence in the bottom half of the 6th. The Bloomfield slugger now leads the team with 5 homers and a .448 batting average. Picking up the win on the mound in Game 2 was sophomore,
Justice Ramirez (North Bergen, NJ) (2-0) and taking the loss in Game 1 was
Wilfrido Valenzuela (Paterson, NJ) (2-1).
Bloomfield goes back to work tomorrow for a double-dip on the road against Felician University. First pitch for the Sunday afternoon CACC showdown is set for 1:00 pm.
