BEARS HOLD ON, 4-3 TO ADVANCE IN CACC TOURNAMENT OVER NYACK

LITTLE FERRY, N.J. - Senior Delanie Cruz (Chicago, IL) came across homeplate with the go-a-head run in the bottom of the 5th inning as Bloomfield College secured a 4-3 victory over the #10 seeded Warriors of Nyack College Thursday afternoon. The senior tripled to centerfield at Shannon Dalton Forde Memorial Field to put herself in scoring position and handed the Bears their first playoff win since 2016 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Tournament.
 
The win advanced Bloomfield (10-18-1) to the quarterfinal round of the tournament and setup a 2:00 pm first pitch against the #2 seeded, Chargers from Dominican College on Friday, May 7th. The setback ended the Warriors 2021 campaign at 7-20. 
 
Head Coach, Phil Delgado picked up his first collegiate post-season win as a coach and helped Bloomfield to their first tournament appearance in five years.

Junior, Taylor Galyean,  (Cottonwood, Calif.) got the start in the circle but had to settle for a no decision after giving up only one run on three hits and striking out three batters in four complete innings of work. Freshman, All-CACC 2nd Teamer, Danielle Walters (Richboro, PA) came on in relief and recorded the win (6-5) pitching three innings, struck out three and gave up two runs on two hits. The utility pitcher also helped her own cause on the other side of the plate, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
 
Bloomfield split with the regional powerhouse Chargers back on April 6th and will look to keep their playoff hopes alive when they hit the road for the quarterfinal match up.
