BRIDGEPORT, CONN. – Bloomfield College women's soccer hit the road Wednesday evening for a test against The University of Bridgeport (UB) and fell 6-1. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest dropped the Bears to 1-6-4 overall and 0-5-2 in league play.
The Purple Knights (6-3-3, 5-0-2 CACC) used a, 2-0 first half to seize control of the game. The Bears saw
Samara Edward (Vieux Fort, St. Lucia) score her first goal of the season in the 61
st minute of the 2
nd half and cut UB's lead in half. The Bears defender pushed a ball from
Brittany Liss (Eatontown, NJ) past the Purple Knight's keeper to give the visiting team some life.
The home team responded with four unanswered goals off
Mia Phillip (Bridgewater, NJ) to put the conference game out of reach for Bloomfield. Phillip finished the contest with eight saves.
The Bears continue their road trip with a Saturday visit to Georgian Court University. The Lions are set to face-off with Bloomfield at 12:00 pm in Lakewood.
