BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball team hosted Adelphi University Monday afternoon and suffered a 77-60 setback. The loss in The Den marked Bloomfield's 7
th straight while the Panthers improved to 6-4 with their third consecutive victory.
The Bears (1-9) battled across first two quarters and went into the halftime break down just two points (35-32). After intermission, the non-conference teams exchanged buckets back and forth in the third but the Panthers used a, 26-13 fourth quarter to pull away from the home team.
Starters,
Daniya Darby (Jersey City, NJ) and
Saja Alston (Newark, NJ) registered their second straight game scoring in double figures. Darby recorded a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. Alston poured in ten points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field while
Morenike Akinrefon (New Brunswick, NJ) chipped in 14 points off the bench.
The Bears hit the road for their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Thursday, December 29 when they square off with FelIcian University. The Golden Falcons host Bloomfield at 6:00 pm at the Job Gymnasium.
