VIDAL HELPS POWER BLOOMFIELD SWEEP OVER USCIENCES IN CACC HOME ACTION

BLOOMFIELD NJ - The Bloomfield College softball team completed their first sweep of the 2022 season Saturday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against USciences. The rainy battle at Shannon D Forde Memorial Park improved the Bears conference record to 3-1 and 5-12 overall while the Devils dropped to 3-17 on the year and 1-3 in league play.
 
GAME 1   
Bloomfield College seized victory in dramatic fashion, 6-5 thanks to a walk-off single by Daniela Vidal (Clifton, NJ) in extra innings. The game was tied at five with Bloomfield batting in the bottom of the eighth when Vidal singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run that secured the game.

USciences had scored three runs in the third inning, thanks to doubles by Taylor Hamm and Gabriella Polera that put the visitors up, 5-2.In the bottom of the seventh inning, Bloomfield tied things up at five.

Danielle Walters (Richboro, PA)  led things off in the pitcher's circle for the Bears. The right-hander surrendered five runs on six hits over four innings, striking out one and walking one.

Bloomfield College tallied eight hits in the game as Vidal, Raelyn D'Onofrio (Voorhees, NJ), and Madison Buechner (Bensalem, PA) each had multiple hits.  Vidal went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Bears in hitting.


GAME 2
Bloomfield College nabbed the lead late in the second game with a, 9-7 victory over the Devils. The game was tied at five with the Bears batting in the bottom of the sixth when Naya Olacio (Bayonne, NJ) tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

USciences had scored five runs in the fifth inning, but Bloomfield still managed to pull out the victory.Taylor Galyean (Cottonwood, CA)  led things off in the pitcher's circle for Bloomfield College. The right-hander allowed six hits and five runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.Jillian Holmes (Elkton, MD) came on in relief and got the win, improving her record to 2-4.

The Bears tallied 12 hits in Game 2. D'Onofrio and Olacio each had multiple hits for Bloomfield College while USciences racked up ten hits in the game. 
 
Bloomfield returns to action Thursday, March 31 when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College for a CACC match-up. The daytime doubleheader is set for a 2:30 pm Game 1 first pitch.
