NEWARK, NJ – Catcher,
Elvis Lopez (Randolph, NJ) hit his 100
thcareer hit in a Bloomfield College uniform Wednesday at West Side Park but it was not enough as the Bears dropped two games against Wilmington University. The regionally ranked Wildcats took Game 1, 12-6 and Game 2 by a score of 4-0 to move to 18-6 on the year with a 10-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate mark. Bloomfield fell to 9-20 on the season with a 5-8 record in league play.
The Bears captain slugged his 100
thcareer hit in Game 1 when Lopez belted a double into centerfield during the bottom of the 4
thinning. The home team failed to plate a run in that inning and had to wait until the bottom of the 6
thto break into the scoring column as
Christopher Walker (West Orange, NJ) hit a solo homerun for his 3
rdof the year.
Raymon Sarza (Teaneck, NJ) took the loss on the mound in Game 1 and dropped his season record to 3-5 after pitching 2 and 2/3 innings.
Justice Ramirez (North Bergen, NJ) suffered the loss (1-1) in Game 2's shutout. The Bears right-hander went a complete game (7 innings) surrendering only 3 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4 batters. Lopez finished Game 2, 2-for-3 at the plate with another double.
Bloomfield is back in action Friday when they travel to face Goldey-Beacom College. The Lightning roll out the CACC welcome mat at 12:00 pm for a rescheduled doubleheader on Good Friday.
