BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears baseball squad hit the road to square off with USciences Saturday afternoon and dropped two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games. The setbacks at FDR Park left Bloomfield with a 13-26 overall record and a 7-16 conference mark while the Devils improved to 17-29 on the year and 10-14 in league contests.
In Game 1 the Bears drove across a run in the 5
th inning when
Christopher Walker (West Orange, NJ) hit a double that scored
Kevin Sanchez (Teaneck, NJ). The home team already had all the runs they needed in the first inning after scratching across two on Bloomfield starter,
Justice Ramirez (North Bergen, NJ) who pitched a complete game, striking out 2.
After the 2-1 victory in Game 1, USciences secured the sweep, 8-3 in Game 2. Walker got the start on the mound for the visitors and surrendered 7 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits in 4 and two-thirds innings of work. Freshman,
Malachi Jones (West Orange, NJ) belted his 2
nd career home run in the third inning to provide a little spark for the Bears offense.
Bloomfield will close out their 2022 campaign on Sunday, May 1
st when the program celebrates Senior Day. The Bears will honor their three graduating seniors at 11:30 am just before the regular season finale against Nyack College. The Warriors come to West Side Park for the double-dip with a 12:00 pm scheduled first pitch.
