PHILADELPHIA, P.A. - The men's soccer team headed down the NJ Turnpike to Philadelphia Saturday afternoon and dropped a, 5-1 match with Holy Family University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss gave Bloomfield their 11th straight loss and left them with a 1-12 record and 0-9 in league play. The Tigers improved their CACC record to 3-4-1 and upped their overall season mark to 5-6-2.
The visiting team started out strong on Tiger Field when Matthew Stewart took a pass from Arsenios Demetriou and pushed it past Holy Family's keep to give the Bears a 1-0 lead in the fourteenth minute of the match. Less than five minutes later the home team evened the contest and went on to score three more goals before intermission. The Tigers tacked on a fifth goal in the 2nd half and held a 14-5 edge in shots on target. Corner kicks were even at five each and Jomar Vizcaino went the full 90 minutes in goal and picked up 9 saves for the day.
Bloomfield will be back on the road Tuesday when they travel to Dominican University. The CACC match-up is set for a 3:30 pm first touch in Orangeburg, NY.
