Men's Basketball Suffer First Loss in The Den as Golden Falcons take, 94-79 Victory in CACC Opener

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears men's basketball team suffered their first loss in The Den Saturday afternoon when Felician University took a, 94-79 decision. The Bloomfield Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener setback dropped their overall record to 4-3 and left them at 0-1 in league play. The visitors improved to 5-3 overall and undefeated at 2-0 in conference play.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
    ·      Al Fatir Connor recorded a team-high 21 points (6-11 FG, 3-5 3PT, 6-6 FT), dished out 7 assists, grabbed 5 boards and snagged 3 steals
    ·      Deavion Ellis posted 15 points (5-10 FG, 5-8 3PT), 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block
    ·      Starrell Hearns added 12 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3PT, 2-4 FT) off the bench and had four rebounds, 3 assist and 2 steals


KEY MOMENTS
    ·      The Bears fed off the electric crowd in The Den and jumped out on an, 8-0 run to start the game. The Golden Falcons countered to pull within 17-16 with 11:31 on the first half clock. 
    ·      The visitors soared in front with a 10-2 run (26-19) and then seized control of the game with their largest lead of, 41-24 with 4:04 to play in the period. Felician shot a lights-out, 57.6 percent from the field that placed Bloomfield down, 51-37 at halftime. 
    ·      The home team found themselves down even further after the break as Felician ran off eight straight points but the Bears chipped away at their deficit and climbed back to within 12 (71-59) with under ten minutes left to play. 
    ·      The visitors never allowed Bloomfield to get any closer and ballooned their lead up to twenty-two (92-70) before settling for the 94-79 victory on the road. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
    ·      Edward Ngene continues to lead the nation in blocked shots and picked 5 against the Golden Falcons to go with six rebounds, six points and an assist. 
    ·      Izaiah Poole came off the bench to add 9 points (3-5 FG, 3-5 FT) to go along with 2 boards.
    ·      The Bears committed 21 turnovers in the game and gave up 22 points off those miscues. 
    ·      Felician enjoyed a 38-20 edge in points in the paint and had a 32-24 advantage in bench points.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
    ·      The Bears get a week to rest before their next action on Saturday, December 9 (3:00 p.m.) in the Den against Southern New Hampshire University.
    ·      Bloomfield will then pack their bags for a trip to the US Virgin Islands to compete in the YES USVI Basketball Classic. Fun in the sun and basketball in gym await the weekend of Friday, Dec 15 (11:00 a.m.) with their first opponent, Allen University out of South Carolina.
