Leesburg, FLA – The Bloomfield College Bears softball team headed to the Sunshine State for action in The Spring Games and opened up gameplay on Thursday with two setbacks. Bloomfield dropped the first game of the day to Lynn University, 4-1 and then lost a 5-inning decision to Lewis University, 10-2. The setbacks left the Bears with an 0-10 record as the 2023 season begins to ramp up.
Jillian Holmes (Elkton, MD) took the loss (0-2) in the circle against Lynn, going three innings and surrendering four runs on eight hits. Daniella Vidal (Clifton, NJ) drove in Bloomfield's lone run and was left on base three times while junior outfielder,
Sierra Albritton (Westampton, NJ) went 2-for-4 in the game.
Danielle Walters (Richboro, PA) went four complete innings against Lewis and gave up 10 runs, five earned, on 10 hits and struck out three batters as the Bears committed three errors in the field. Walters hit a sac-fly in the top of the third that drove in
Spencer Ventura (Claremont, Calif) who reached on a single to right field. Freshman first baseman,
Starra Murphy (Calvert, MD) went a perfect 3-for-3 which included a double while
Raelyn D'Onofrio (Voorhies, NJ) drove in Walters for Bloomfield's second run in the 5
th.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow for two more contests at The Spring Games beginning with Pitt-Johnstown at 9:00 am and then Saginaw Valley State University at 2:00 pm.
