PHILADELPHIA, PA – In a unique non-conference contest with the #6/10 ranked Thomas Jefferson University women's basketball team, Bloomfield College dropped an, 88-51 decision Thursday evening. The Rams scored 29 points in the first quarter and lead as many as 37 points as they improved to 14-1 overall after the home victory and the Bears fell to 3-11 on the year.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
· Anisha Able went for a double-double, snagging a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with 10 points (5-9 FG).
· Taneshia Tucker recorded a team-high 18 points (7-12 FG, 4-8 3PT), 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks and an assist
· Tiara Mahorn came off the bench to grab 9 rebounds and chip in 6 points while Daniya Darby added 8 points and 6 boards in her starting role
KEY MOMENTS
· Jefferson jumped out to an early 11-2 lead and Bloomfield struggled offensively as they posted just 6 points in the first quarter (29-6). The Bears found better success in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the home team, 19-16 but went into the locker room down, 45-25 at the half.
· The Rams controlled the third period, 22-18 and never gave the Bears an opportunity to get back into the game. The visitors posted 10 points in the final quarter against the ranked Rams.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
· Jefferson forced 21 turnovers while only committing 6 and enjoyed a 32-9 edge in points off turnovers. Bloomfield held a slight advantage in second chance points, 13-11
· The Bears fell behind, 19-4 in fast break points and the Rams were dominant, 54-34 with points in the paint
WHAT'S NEXT
· Bloomfield will return to Philly for their next contest on Saturday, Jan 13 (1:00 p.m.) when they face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent, Holy Family University.
· The Bears return home for another CACC test on Wednesday, Jan 17 (5:30 p.m.) when the University of Bridgeport visits The Den.
