Women's Basketball Snaps Nine-Game Slide With First CACC Win Over Goldey-Beacom, 66-50

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The women's basketball team secured their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win Saturday when they defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 66-50. The Bears snapped a nine-game skid and improved to 2-10 overall while moving to 1-3 in league games. The Lightning dropped their ninth-straight game and fell to 1-14 overall and 0-4 in conference play. 

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
    ·      Junior guard, Kamrin Babbs scored 12 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3PT & 3-4 FT) along with 4 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist
    ·      Daniya Darby recorded her third double-double of the year with 12 points (3-9 FG, 6-7 FT) and 11 boards, 3 assists, 2 block and a steal
    ·      Anisha Able snagged a game-high, 12 rebounds to go beside three assists and 3 points 

KEY MOMENTS
    ·      Bloomfield started off the game with eight straight points and the Lightning struck back with five in a row. The teams ended the first quarter at 10-5 as both offenses combined for just five made baskets to open the game.
    ·      The Lightning enjoyed a, 15-14 edge in the 2nd quarter and went into halftime down, 24-20. 
    ·      The Bears offense came alive in the third, with the home team converting at a 47.1 percent clip and Goldey-Beacom fell behind, 47-33. Bloomfield led by as-many-as 18 (47-29) on a Darby layup in the paint.
    ·      The Bears kept the Lightning at bay in the fourth to ensure their first victory in CACC play and thrilled the home crowd in The Den to a win in the new year. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
    ·      Tiara Mahorn narrowly missed a double-double in 19 minutes of work when she recorded 11 rebounds and 9 points (3-7 FG, 3-4 FT)
    ·      The Bears leading scorer, Taneshia Tucker had 9 points (3-15 FG, 1-5 3PT, 2-2 FT) to go along with 5 boards, 3 assists and a steal 
    ·      Bloomfield forced 18 turnovers and converted those into 23 points and dominated on the glass with a 58-35 advantage. The Bears were strong down low, bolstering a, 24-18 edge on points in the paint 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
    ·      Bloomfield rolls out the welcome mat on Monday, Jan 8 (5:30 p.m.) for their final non-conference opponent when UDC visits The Den.
    ·      The Bears then hit the road for a CACC battle with Jefferson on Thursday, Jan 11 (5:30 p.m.)
