BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College of MSU men's soccer team lost a 3-2 battle Saturday afternoon to visiting, Wilmington University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match moved the Bears to 1-7-2 overall and 0-6-2 in the league.
Christian Jhon Cruz scored the Bears first goal of the game on a ball from
Yefry Rodriguez. The score at the 13:33 minute mark was Cruz's fifth of the season and put the home team in front, 1-0. The Wildcats would counter less than four minutes later, knotting the score at 1-1 in the 18
th minute. The visitors added two more goals before intermission and seized control of the CACC contest.
Cruz netted his, team-leading, sixth goal of the season in the 86
th minute but Bloomfield's comeback attempt fell short and Wilmington improved to 4-7-2 overall and 4-3-1 in CACC play.
Freshman,
Sander Meintjes, despite giving up three goals, recorded 10 saves in 90 minutes of work that brought his season total up to 43 saves on the year.
Next up, the Bears travel to East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday for a non-conference test at 7:00 pm at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
