MILLERSVILLE, PA – The Bears Softball team opened their 2024 season on the road and dropped two games against Millersville University on Wednesday. The Marauders took Game 1 by a score of 6-1 and then completed Game 2 in 5 innings with a, 12-4 victory.
Bloomfield moved to 0-2 on the season after the non-conference setbacks while Millersville improved to 4-0 for the year. Danielle Walters (0-1) took the loss in Game 1, giving up six runs, three of them earned on six hits while striking out three. Jocelyn Moody (0-1) got the start in the circle in Game 2 and struggled to get out of the bottom of the first, giving up eight runs, seven earned on five hits and gave way to freshman, Rayn Romero to pick up the last out in the opening frame. Romero in her debut went three and two/thirds and surrendered four runs, all of them earned on seven hits.
Senior, Sierra Albritton scored two runs on the afternoon and stole a base as she went 1-for-4 at the plate and drew 2 walks. Freshman Meaghan Dean went 2-for-3 in her Bears debut with a double and an RBI on the day. Bloomfield as a team batted .209 while Millersville went .345 for the double-dip.
Next up the Bears will travel for their annual Spring Break trip to Florida at The Spring Games. Bloomfield has ten games scheduled beginning Friday, March 8. Ticket information and pay-to-view subscription service links are available on our website Softball schedule page.
